With all the shocking twists and turns on The Vampire Diaries, it's hard to imagine what will happen when the show returns with new episodes beginning March 25, let alone predict how things will play out in the season finale. Luckily, the cast and crew of this CW drama have managed to spill several teasers about the rest of the season during this weekend's Paley Fest.

Warning: This article contains spoilers on the upcoming episodes of The Vampire Diaries.

The Scoop on "A Few Good Men"

On the next episode of The Vampire Diaries, the tension between Damon and Alaric reaches a climax as the show sheds more light on Damon's involvement in Isobel's death. The O.C.'s Melinda Clarke also arrives as Matt's mother, whose contempt for Caroline couldn't be more obvious. And while Anna and her mother Pearl will certainly live to see at least another episode, two new mysterious characters will be introduced to spice things up in Mystic Falls.

The Scoop on the Salvatore Brothers

Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) emotional journey will not only focus on his grief over the realization that Katherine is alive and has forsaken him, but his budding feelings for Elena (Nina Dobrev). "They're becoming sort of unlikely friends and that's a slow road," executive producer Julie Plec explains, adding that Damon will first fall for Elena before she'll realize her feelings for him.

Paul Wesley, on the other hand, hints that upcoming episodes will expose his character Stefan's complex layers, adding that "he's hiding something." Oh and there's also a shirtless scene in which Stefan is hanging upside down!

The Scoop on the Finale

It looks like no amount of book knowledge can prepare fans for what's in store for the season ender because series creator Kevin Williamson intends to feature seven to nine cliffhangers to make sure that The Vampire Diaries goes out with a bang. Fans can also look forward to a new mysterious device that's "going to top" the vampire compass.
