Fans of FOX’s
The Simpsons will have to wait until the end of this month to catch a brand-new episode of the long-running animated series. However, some details about the fresh installment have hit the web, which means that eager fans can opt to put themselves up for a little bit of spoilery.
Read on to know what happens in the new
Simpsons entitled "That 90’s Show."
In "That 90’s Show,"
Marge (Julie Kavner) and
Homer (Dan Castellaneta) recall the days when they were still dating. A series of flashbacks show Marge as a college student, with Homer working for his father Abe in order to support her. When Marge develops a crush on a professor, Homer is devastated and turns to music for comfort, and inadvertently invents grunge.
In this particular
Simpsons installment, which will air on Sunday, January 27, industry personalities Kurt Loder and “Weird Al Yankovic” guest star as themselves. Loder is known for hosting
MTV News, and has worked at several high-profile music publications such as
Rolling Stone and
Circus. “Weird Al” Yankovic, meanwhile, is a singer-songwriter known for his satirical music and compositions, which include You Don’t Love Me Anymore,” “Achy Breaky Song,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “(This Song’s Just) Six Worlds Long” and “Confessions Part III.”
Loder and “Weird Al” Yankovic are only two of the numerous guest stars that have been lined up for
The Simpsons' 19th season. Just last Sunday, the show featured
The Daily Show host
Jon Stewart and former
CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather in the episode, “E Pluribus Wiggum.” In the episode, Mayor Quimby (Castellaneta) moves up election day in order to raise money with a bond issue. Springfield thus becomes the town that holds the first primary election in the nation, causing the arrival of the media, candidates and political pundits.
In a hilarious twist, the residents of Springfield reject all the leading candidates and vote for 8-year-old Ralph Wiggum (Nancy Cartwright), who ends up winning the primary.
Lisa (Yeardley Smith) tries to convince Ralph not to run, but by the end of the episode, both the Democratic and Republican parties are seen supporting Ralph’s bid for the presidency.
In relation to the storyline, FOX has launched a website features Ralph’s presidential campaign. The website,
http://www.thesimpsons.com/wiggum, displays Ralph’s takes on key political, economic and social issues.
