With only 10 episodes left, including tonight's installment,
The Shield is about to close its seventh and final chapter. And while fans are sadly mulling over the conclusion of the acclaimed police drama, lead star
Michael Chiklis is more than bummed that the show he spearheaded since 2002 will now come to a end.
"Listen, if you're a
Shield fan, I feel your pain, but think of how I feel about it," Chiklis, who plays Vic Mackey, said in his good-natured way. "I've heard people say, 'What will I do on Tuesday nights when it's over?' My response is: 'What am I going to do Monday through Friday?' "
Despite the ending of
The Shield, Chiklis remains positive about life after his infamous show. Of course, he can always act in movies. In fact, he'll be appearing in the thriller
Eagle Eye, which hits theaters on Friday, September 26. Additionally, he has been cast in the upcoming animated film
The Legend of Secret Pass as the voice of Calabar.
“Listen, here is the thing: There is life after
The Shield. There is
Eagle Eye and things for me to do that I'm really excited to do. But I'm still sad. The one great thing is if you're a fan of
The Shield, you're going to be thrilled about this season. The first four episodes are plot-heavy. But then the train really leaves the station and gets up to speed. There are 13 episodes and I'm so proud of them all. We've taken it to the end and seen it through. And it's not like I'm just talking s---. It's good,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, fans can catch the remaining episodes of
The Shield every Tuesday at 10pm on FX. On tonight's episode called “Genocide,” the gang war erupts in unexpected ways that Vic can't fully control, while Dutch and Billings' homicide investigation grows into something more disturbing.
Stay tuned for more updates on
The Shield.
