Next month, viewers will be treated to the latest edition of MTV's groundbreaking reality program,
The Real World, when the show comes out with its 20th season, which is set in Hollywood. A lot has changed since the series began, with
The Real World even giving rise to a spin-off,
Real World/Road Rules Challenge.
For the host of cast members that have come and gone on the reality show, the years since their stints on
The Real World have also produced both major and minor changes in their respective lives.
Mallory Snyder from the 13th season of the show is one of the lucky ones, having scored enviable and high-profile modeling contracts, including in this year's J. Crew spring collection.
For Snyder, things couldn't have been peachier since her appearance both on
The Real World Paris in 2003, and subsequently,
Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Inferno two years later. Mallory embarked on a modeling career in 2005, soon after
Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Upon exiting the show, she decided to distance herself from the
Real World lore in hopes of being taken much more seriously as a model.
The gambit appears to have paid off as she subsequently landed on the covers of
Self,
GQ, and
Fitness, not to mention becoming a
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model in 2005 and 2006. Snyder's latest coup is snagging a gig as part of J.Crew's 2008 Spring catalog.
In contrast, Eric Nies from
The Real World's first ever season, may not have fared as well – at least in the looks department. Of course, it has been much longer since Nies was on the original franchise. Nies first graced
The Real World in 1992 as an attractive and buff cast member, who eventually went on to host MTV's
The Grind.
For those who may remember him and especially those who may have drooled over his model good looks, his appearance during the taping for
The Real World's reunion/awards show over the weekend may be huge shocker (see photo with inset).
