After trying to launch her country music career in last week's episode of
Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss is talking about Xscape, the hip-hop group that made her famous.
Although she says the all girl group helped to launch her music career, it wasn't nearly profitable enough to plan a reunion between the other girls.
"I don't want to give no exact numbers, but we didn't make that much money off of our albums for us to have three platinum albums," she told
Sister 2 Sister of the group she started when she was 16. "We really didn't get a lot of money as a group."
Kandi also says that it's not only about the money but the lack of chemistry between the group that would keep a reunion from happening.
"We didn't get along," she said. "Why would I go back for a headache and I [didn't] really make that much money in the situation? That don't make sense."
While Kandi is working with one of her former Xscape members to write new songs for the group The OMG Girls in addition to her country music ventures, she assures there will be no reunion. She also told Andy Cohen on
Watch What Happens Live earlier this week that her co-star Sheree Whitfield's new single "Who Gon Check Me Boo" is nothing more than a "novelty song." Ouch Sheree. Looks like you just just got checked.
Kandi is known for her musical prowess, with even a talent-based Bravo reality spin-off
Kandi Factory where she will help struggling performers and turn them into bankable artists in the works. But she's included her passion for music into an even spicier business endeavor. Last year she launched her sex toy line, Bedroom Kandi.
"They are happiness and joy," Kandi told the
Huffington Post. "We have one button if you choose you can connect it to your stereo or Mp3 player, iPod or whatever and that vibrates to whatever song is playing in the stereo system."
Looks like it's time to download
"Don't Think I'm Not" again.
