Rocket is featured as one of the Top 12 bands in the Fox network’s competitive reality television series The Next Great American Band. It is an all-girl group which describes itself as a blend of rock, glam, and power pop genres. In their own words, they have described themselves as akin to driving along a Los Angeles beach in an open-top, bright pink Cadillac, as well as an eclectic mix of bubblegum, parties, and fun. The band says it brings together the innocence of the 60s, along with the glam and swagger of the 70s and the 80s, and also compares itself to performers such as Motley Crue and the Shangri-Las.
The band’s name is derived from the surname of four of its members: Lauren Rocket, Kelly Rocket, Lauren C. Rocket, and Roxie Rocket. They were also joined by Chief Kristin in 2005. Their group was initially signed to Teenacide Records, and they brought out their first album titled Too Hot To Be Bothered during the summer of 2004. In the following year, they performed at their first-ever live show at the famous Viper Room. They have continued to play throughout Los Angeles, and came out on Valentine’s Day in 2006 with an EP titled Girls With Candy Hearts.
