This is it, foodies. Tonight we will see who gets his or her own show on The Next Food Network Star. Following the elimination of the show's supposedly most polarizing contestant Debbie Lee, two people remain, a charming stay-at-home mother of four and a trained chef.
Will this be a battle between storyline versus skill? Already, the online world is already abuzz with factions and reasons why someone should win, from Team Melissa to Team Jeffrey. There's only one way to find out. Tune in tonight 9pm on the Food Network.
On Team Melissa, her storyline is working for her. If we'd remember, all of her screw-ups received ample airtime on the early episodes, in what seemed like an effort to emphasize her being an amateur. On the other hand, Jeffrey had always been consistent, earning praises from the judges each and every episode (except for that memorable risotto). Melissa caught on, however, and her fans would say she has improved a lot, as opposed to Jeffrey who had been at the same level since day one.
On the other hand, Jeffrey is a trained chef, which should probably explain why he seems to prepare good food every time. Jeffrey fans would argue that for someone to win
The Next Food Network Star, he or she should know his or her food, and Jeffrey fits the description.
As far as cornering a fan base, Melissa fans point out that she can potentially take over the fans lost when Amy Finley opted out after six episodes; a veritable venture since The Gourmet Next Door was actually a big hit.
Jeffrey fans, meanwhile, would say that their bet has more star quality, something Food Network execs Susie Fogelson and Bob Tuschman consistently talked about. Jeffrey, they argue, has that twinkle in the eye and winning smile to keep an audience entranced during a show.
