Born Kevin George Knipfing on April 26, 1965 in Mineola, New York to Janet B. and Joseph Valentine Knipfing, comedian and Emmy-nominated actor Kevin James was raised in Stony Brook, New York. He has two siblings, comedian Gary Valentine and Leslie Knipfing. James was educated in State University of New York at Cortland and majored in sports management but remained to be an undergraduate. His career as a comedian started through guest appearances on shows like Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Dennis Miller Live, The Late Late Show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Live with Regis and Kelly. He was also placed as the 89th Greatest Stand-Up Comedians by Comedy Central. His movie appearances include 50 First Dates and Hitch. He is married to Steffiana De La Cruz, a model, and has a daughter with her.

The King of Queens . The show is an Emmy-nominated comedy series about a blue-collar couple who lives with the girl's father who rarely leaves them alone. Doug Heffernan is a parcel deliveryman and his wife Carrie works at a real estate development firm. Other characters in the show include Arthur Spooner, Carrie's widowed father, Deacon Palmer who is Doug's friend, Spence Olchin, who is another of Doug's friends, and Danny Heffernan, Doug's cousin.
