The Hills: Heidi Montag Appearing on February 'Maxim' Cover
While The Hills is a popular program, the reality show can't last forever. Either public interest will wane or the majority of the players will get tired of the format and seek to move on.

In anticipation of the day that her rivalry with fellow The Hills star Lauren Conrad no longer captures the viewers in the same way, Heidi Montag has started diversifying her portfolio, so to speak. She's trying to get a singing career underway, and has undergone several personal surgical enhancements to improve her chances of making it in the appearance-driven entertainment industry.

Now she can add another entry to her resume: Maxim cover girl.

Heidi will be the cover girl for Maxim's February issue as “The Hills' Hottest Bad Girl.” In the magazine, Heidi talks about the reality of the reality show, which has been in even greater dispute than usual over recent months.

Regarding the realism of the show, Heidi told Maxim, “The Hills is a show that's 22 minutes long about seven people's lives. It's edited for drama, and there are editors and story lines. If someone walks in front of the camera, we have to redo the shot. So it's not exactly how things always are. It's not like The Truman Show. They're not with us all the time, although I wish they were, because it would be a way crazier show. Let's see how Lauren would look then!”

Why is she still making pointed barbs about Lauren, when she's recently talked about the need for everyone to move on? Apparently, Heidi is still not quite ready to do that herself. She also dishes in the magazine, “She's changed. Some people go more Hollywood than others. We're from different backgrounds. She grew up in that spoiled Laguna world, and I grew up with humble beginnings. She's very controlling. She was crazy about how much time I spent with Spencer, and I had to see her every day. I've heard from other people that she's a big diva now.”

Heidi's issue will be on newsstand on January 15.
