Hugh Marston Hefner was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 9, 1926. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine, and has become the icon for American sexuality. Hefner served in the U.S. army after elementary school, and earned his psychology degree in the University of Illinois. He worked for several publications before establishing Playboy. Hefner gained notoriety because of his status, and was considered as the world’s most envied womanizer. He became involved with countless women after his divorce from his first wife, Mildred Williams.
