The upcoming season of The Following will be spearheaded by Jennifer Johnson as series creator Kevin Williamson steps down as showrunner, according to Deadline.com. Williamson will still reportedly be involved in the FOX thriller series though he will be concentrating on his new CBS drama Stalker, which stars Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q. Previously he made a similar move as he went from being the showrunner of the CW's The Vampire Diaries, which is now headed by Julie Plec, to showrunner of The Following

Johnson worked as a supervising producer on the CBS series Cold Case, where she was promoted to showrunner. She also created the NBC drama Chase and served as executive producer before serving as showrunner to the FOX drama Alcatraz.

When viewers last saw The Following, Joe landed in prison while Claire left Ryan. Season 3 won't kick off until fall but fans are already pondering how the new season will shape up. Will Joe escape from jail again? Who was the mystery driver who picked up Mark and Luke's dead body? Will Joe get another accomplice? More importantly, what changes will Johnson do as the new showrunner?
