It was a long road for Jillian Harris, who had to deal with 30 men vying for her affection at the beginning of The Bachelorette, including a suitor named Wes whose shady intentions gradually unfolded before our very eyes. But besides the increase in the number of men to choose from, there were a lot of other "twists" this season which made it more difficult for the Canadian beauty to narrow down her search for true love: Eliminated bachelor Jake returned to warn Jillian that Wes has a girlfriend, while Ed decided to leave the show for his career but eventually returned because he couldn't stop thinking about Jillian. And last but not the least, there's Reid, who got the boot two weeks ago but decided to return at the very last minute, literally, to profess his love.

If you're like me, and you've been reading all the spoilers, then you already know who Jillian chooses between Ed, Kiptyn and Reid even before the Bachelorette finale. Still, the idea of how it all goes down, as well as seeing Jillian's reaction as she chooses one man while she rejects the other two, was too intriguing to miss. So like many curious spectators, I watched in anticipation and witnessed Jillian as she said yes to the man she loves.

Ed, the winner of The Bachelorette season 5, didn't seem like the kind of guy who would prioritize a woman over his job. In the end, however, he proved that he's dead serious when it comes to Jillian. It was already obvious that Ed piqued Jillian's interest from the start of season. After all, Jillian kept him in the running until week 5 where he left the show to save his job (causing Jillian to sob uncontrollably) and instantly took him back upon his "unexpected return." That actually says a lot about how much Jillian likes this guy. But the final confirmation came on last night's finale where it was strongly hinted that at the end of Ed and Jillian's date, he managed to overcome the challenges with "physical intimacy" that had led her to question their relationship. While it remains uncertain whether that affected her eventual decision, it's pretty clear that Jillian is happy and in love.

"Jillian, you may not know how much you have impacted me, how much you have changed me as a man and helped me reprioritize my life," Ed told Jillian in the finale. "You are everything I could ask for in a woman."

"I want to be with you forever," Ed said, while he offered his ring. "I want a family with you. I want you to give me a hard time when we're 80 years old. Jillian, will you marry me?"

Of course, Jillian said yes and assured Ed that she's "madly in love" with him.

At least two mysteries were answered on last night's finale: Jillian picked Ed as the winner and is now engaged to be married. But how long will it last? After all, there's still that After the Final Rose special so it's not really over until all twists are revealed.  Here's hoping that Jillian and Ed beat the odds.
