As previously reported,
Bevin Powers, the latest
The Bachelor runner-up, has a new man in her life. However, in a more recent interview with the
San Mateo Daily Journal, Powers admitted that it took some time before she could re-enter the dating world, especially since she had fallen hard for bachelor
Andy Baldwin.
Powers, an avid fan of
The Bachelor, decided to apply for the reality series after she saw Baldwin's announcement at the end of the ninth season. Early in the filming, she unexpectedly felt a connection with Baldwin.
“I started feeling a connection and it surprised me that I would feel that way. I've been dating around here for three years and I hadn't felt anything like that. There was a spark and butterflies, I felt giddy,” she said.
For the next six weeks, Bevin Powers and 24 other women tried their best to capture Baldwin's attention and win his heart. However, it wasn't until she her family met Baldwin that she allowed herself to fall in love with him. She received a positive feedback from her family, and when she made it to the Final Two, she felt very confident.
When the limos picked her and fellow finalist
Tessa Horst up for the final rose ceremony, Bevin Powers' spirits plummeted. Having followed
The Bachelor religiously, she knew that the person in the first limo wasn't the chosen one. Unfortunately, that was the limo she was in.
“I cried the whole way over. I was humiliated. I couldn't believe I let myself get so close to somebody,” Powers told the
San Mateo Daily Journal. Returning home to her family and friends did not necessarily help her cope with her heartbreak, as she was not allowed to the share the show's details until the season had finished airing.
“I had to act like I could be engaged to Andy,” Bevin Powers said.
However, after some time, she came to realize that Baldwin had made the right choice, saying that she had gotten wrapped up in the fantasy created by the show. Ironically, this was the same reason why Baldwin and Horst decided to put their engagement on hold.
Now, based on her recent MySpace posts, Powers is clearly happy with her new beau, who, funnily enough, she met on a blind date. She is also busy trying to get her life back on track, which has been slightly difficult given her newfound celebrity.
