As their fans well know,
The Bachelor couple
Andy Baldwin and
Tessa Horst recently ended their engagement, citing the pressure of the show as the reason for the hasty decision. As we've also reported, they are, however, still together as a couple, and continuing their relationship despite the major step back. In Andy's own words, the two “met in a public forum,” but now “want to keep [their] relationship private.”
To that end, Andy recently declined to discuss his relationship at a recent talk to students at the University of Louisville's School of Medicine. However, in a rather unexpected move, considering his stated desire to keep the relationship out of the public eye, it's been reported that he carried Tessa across the finish line at the Louisville Ironman triathlon
A report filed just a few hours ago on a triathlon website reported that Andy celebrated completing this, the very first Ironman held in Louisville, by carrying Tessa across the finish line. At the time this article was published, there were not been any additional confirmations of this, however, one of our own BuddyTV commenters from the Louisville area left a comment to the same effect earlier today.
Andy completed the race in just over ten hours. It's not his best time; he completed an Ironman in Hawaii last year in nine hours, 45 minutes.
As mentioned, Andy also used his time in Louisville to fulfill his duties as a Naval officer, spending time at the medical school to attempt to recruit the future physicians. Inevitably, despite his request, talk did turn to his time on
The Bachelor.
Despite the continuing scrutiny on him and Tessa, he still feels quite positive about his time on the show. He told the students, “It has given me a tremendous voice," the Lancaster, Pa., native said of his reality-TV fame. "People listen when you have a platform like I do. Before [
The Bachelor] happened I was a physician. I was a diver. I was in Ironman. People might not have known who I was. Now they do.”
As Andy continues to try to navigate the tricky divide between the useful aspect of celebrity and the less salutary effects it can have on relationships, BuddyTV will continue to keep his fans updated.
