Another couple from The Bachelor won't be headed to the altar. People.com reports that Bachelor season 20 star Ben Higgins and his (now former) fiancee, Lauren Bushnell, have called it quits. The couple, who went on to star in their own spin-off on Freeform, maintain that they will still be friends after the split but there are no wedding bells in their future.

In a joint statement announcing the break Ben and Lauren said, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways. We feel fortunate for the time we had together, and will remain friends with much love and respect for one another. We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time."

The writing was on the wall a bit with this break-up and it seems to all stem from the show. Ben famously declared that he was in love with both Lauren and runner-up JoJo during his season. This caused trust issues in their relationship. After the season had finished airing Lauren said, "I fall more in love with Ben every day and it's hard to separate what happened long ago and my current feelings. It's confusing. It does wear on me."

"It hurts," she continued talking about Ben telling JoJo he loved her. "It's like, why did I have to go through that hurt? It's already a few months of confusion and tears and then to have to deal with it again. It's hard."

Late last year the couple also decided to enter couples counseling. At the time Lauren said, "There are so many weird elements to being in a relationship after The Bachelor. We've gotten in arguments like any other couple, but about some things that other couples wouldn't have to fight about, like the fact that we met when he was dating other women. You can say that's what I signed up for, but it's still real life and it's still hard." Evidently those elements were too much for the two to actually stick together.

Are you surprised by the break-up? Did you see this coming? Did you think they would get married? Do you think the show was a factor in their break-up?
