We're just one day away from the finale of
The Amazing Race 13, a season that has given us a wide swath of quality teams, one really lucky team, and dominance the likes of which
The Amazing Race isn't accustomed. I've enjoyed the season, like I do every season, but it hasn't really captured much excitement, and I suspect that the dominance of
Nick and Starr (and, to a lesser extent,
Ken and Tina) have made the series more boring than usual. There's nothing wrong with this, and I can't imagine CBS thought that Nick and Starr had the potential for this kind of powerhouse performance. On paper, they're relatively unimpressive. The actual route has been a highlight of the season, forgoing any well-known European destinations for mostly under-represented spots like Bolivia and Cambodia. Though almost entirely unsuccessful, I figured I might as well give these predictions one last try. I've been saving the best for last.
Andrew and Dan Will Begin in High Spirits, Finish in Utter Dejection
Andrew and Dan, by the grace of Xenu, find themselves in the final three. Much has been written about this incredible phenomenon, and it boils down to pure, dumb luck. Nonetheless, Andrew and Dan will surely enter the final leg with spirits high and shoes correctly tied, but this can only last so long. Once they arrive stateside, it won't take long for one of their patented blunders. They've advanced this far in the race due to the mistakes of other teams. Ken and Tina and Nick and Starr are too good to both make fatal mistakes, and once Andrew and Dan's fates become sealed, they will revert to the sad sacks they've been throughout the race.
Ken and Tina Will Get Heart-Broken, Stick Together
Emotionally, Ken and Tina have the most on the line. They are fighting for their marriage. They are the old guys. Unfortunately, they are not the best team, and some semblance of fatigue is likely to set in. They will come close to victory, but the fact that they've made it the whole race without biting each other's heads off is victory enough.
Nick and Starr Will Win The Amazing Race 13
The best team, the most deserving team, will win. That team is Nick and Starr. They've come too far, dominated so handily, to lose now. The adrenaline will be flowing and barring a epic blunder or an abysmally bad cab driver, Nick and Starr will be the recipients of one million dollars.
