The remaining teams in
The Amazing Race are staying in India tonight, traveling from New Delhi to Old Delhi. It's not, as you would imagine, a long trip. The Colts-Steelers game went a little long, and so these here live thoughts won't begin until around 8:30pm ET. In the meantime, fix yourself some cocoa, drink a tall boy, spend some time with the family, play some sudoku - whatever tickles your fancy on this fine Sunday evening. We'll be back for
The Amazing Race live thoughts immediately after Andy Rooney's weekly Five Minutes of Old Man Whining About Modernity. I'll see you then.
Andy Rooney discusses presidential elections. First - he discusses FDR and Herbert Hoover. I agree with him on one point - out insistence that we are the greatest country in the world is a little annoying. Good little piece by Andy Rooney tonight - it probably helped that he didn't do a lot of talking, and just showed clips. Juxtaposing clips from Arkansas in 1957 and Barack Obama's victory speech from Tuesday can't help but feel poignant.
CBS really wants to play up this Dallas-Starr budding romance. It will not bloom, I say. Starr can find a non-spiky haired man of equal quality. She's a freaking Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
Bahai House is where the teams will depart from in the middle of the day. Remember,
Ken and Tina have to overcome a Speed Bump, having finished last in the non-elimination last week.
Nick and Starr leave at nine in the morning. The teams have to head to a apartment complex and find the clue in the middle of its park.
Kelly and Christy depart next, and have a difficult time opening their clue. They are wearing matching Texas shirts, and I am mildly perturbed.
Dallas and Toni go next, followed by
Terence and Sarah. Then Superbad, and finally Ken and Tina. Kelly and Christy discuss who, out of
Andrew and Dan, they would rather make out with. Bitches.
"Dan and I possess such awesome strength" - Andrew. No comment needed.
Nick and Starr find the clue. They are in a park. It's a Road Block. One team member has to take part in The Holy Festival. They have climb a ladder and search though hundreds of envelopes, looking for a clue that says “The Amazing Race” on it. Meanwhile, they are pelted by paint bombs from the locals. Looks hellish. Kelly and Christy's cab driver gets lost. Starr is a trooper while getting nailed by paint. She finds the clue immediately. Next – they head to the Chairty Birds Hospital in Old Delhi and search through bird cages. Nick is destroyed on the way out by a hooligan and his magenta paint.
Toni and Dallas arrive next, Dallas finds the clue quickly, before anyone else shows up. Kelly does the paint road block and is absolutely shellacked by the paint. She has to head back to and get water. She says she can't even get to the ladder. Waah. Starr did just fine. Kelly, unfortunately, grabs an envelope without looking.
“Who's my girl?” Terence asks Sarah. Sarah responds, “You are.” Perfect.
Kelly comes back wit the wrong envelope once again. Terence pushes locals out of the way as he runs back to Sarah. Terence pats himself on the back after the challenge. Kelly tries again, but takes a spill. She is struggling, crying, completely painted. Christy gets blind-sided on the sidelines and Kelly finally finds it. Later, Ken and Tina show up. They are going to have to make up a ton of ground.
Tina gets pelted while watching on. She is pissed. No taxi will pick up Kelly and Christy. Nick and Starr find the clue in the bird cages. It's a Detour. Teary-Eyed or Blurry Eyed. They either have to walk down a street and observe hanging numbers on the street wires or carry a huge bag of chilis a quarter mile down the road.
Toni and Dallas are led to the bird hospital by a group of kids. Triumphant music plays. Terence complains about paint in his nose. Terence makes Sarah dig through bird litter. Andrew and Dan find the bird hospital clue next. Kelly and Christy, meanwhile, have gone crazy. Ken and Tina beat Kelly and Christy to the bird hospital, and embark on their speed bump. They have to serve holy water at a temple. Seems like it should take a very long time.
Looking at the power lines is near impossible. Nick and Starr and Toni and Dallas are searching. Meanwhile, Andrew and Dan are stuck in traffic. Ken and Tina serve the holy water. Dallas, Toni, Nick and Starr work together. Terence and Sarah are having an easy time with the chilis until they have to mash them into powder. Andrew and Dan arrive at the power lines. Ken and Tina finish the Speed Bump. Tina has green hair and they are stuck in traffic.
Dallas, Toni, Nick and Starr get the numbers right, and get their next clue. They're heading to the pit stop. They have to go to a tomb.
Terence and Sarah are not doing well at the chili station. Andrew and Dan are counting the wrong numbers. So are Kelly and Christy. Uh-oh. This could give Ken and Tina a chance.
MONKEY ON THE POWER LINES!!!
Andrew and Dan have no clue what they're doing, and neither do Kelly and Christy. Nick and Starr arrive first at Humayun's Tomb. They are team number one. They win a trip to Hawaii. Five nights. Sweet. Toni and Dallas are team number two.
Ken and Tina arrive at the power lines and actually find the correct numbers. Superbad and the divorcees still are at a loss. Terence and Sarah finish the chili powder, head to the pit stop. Ken and Tina are right there with the other teams. Ken and Tina finish before the other two teams. Epic comeback.
Which team will be less stupid - Kelly and Christy or Andrew and Dan? Ken and Tina help Andrew and Dan find the right tags. Kelly and Christy figure it out on their own. Terence and Sarah are team number three. Andrew and Dan hand in their numbers - they did it and get their clue before Kelly and Christy, though they finish right behind Superbad.
It's a race to the finish. Ken and Tina are team number four. Good work, guys. The final two teams are stuck in traffic. Andrew and Dan are team number five. Wow, undeserved, but good for them.
Kelly and Christy are the last team to arrive. And they have been eliminated.
6th Place/Eliminated: Kelly and Christy
5th Place: Andrew and Dan
4th Place: Ken and Tina
3rd Place: Terence and Sarah
2nd Place: Dallas and Toni
1st Place: Nick and Starr
