Luke Kirby appears as a member of the cast in the HBO television drama series Tell Me You Love Me. He is a Canadian actor who was born in 1978 in Hamilton, Ontario, and is the son of American expatriates. His father previously lived along the eastern seaboard while his mother is a native of the Big Apple, hailing from Brooklyn, New York. He attended the National Theater School of Canada, a theater conservatory which is known for its focus on classical works, and took up drama there. Later on he pursued a career in acting, appearing in television series such as Slings and Hours, The Eleventh Hour, and Northern Town. He also had roles in the films Halloween: Resurrection, Shattered Glass, and The Greatest Game Ever Played.
Hugo is portrayed by Luke Kirby in HBO television drama series Tell Me You Love Me. He is a man in his 20s who is linked to Jamie, often having vigorous and enjoyable sex with her, though their intimacy belies a hard time with deeper concepts such as commitment and fidelity. Together with Jamie, he consults with sex and life therapist May Foster in order to find some way of keeping their relationship alive, and prevent it from degrading into mere sex-driven lust.
