Jack Davenport was born on March 1, 1973 to parents Nigel Davenport and Maria Aitken, who divorced when Jack was seven. After finishing his studies in the Dragon School, he went on to Cheltenham College where he discovered his interest in acting. He was discovered by a director from Clwyd Theatr Cymru while he was on a summer drama course and was later asked by the director if Davenport could work for him. At the age of eighteen, he performed on stage in Wales, where he became friends with Rhys Ifans. He went back to school, this time at University of East Anglia where he took up film studies and English literature. The first major production Davenport participated in was Fierce Creatures, where he played a student zookeeper. He was later found by an agent who cast him for the role of Miles Stewart in the BBC series This Life. A string of projects then followed and among them were appearances on The Talented Mr. Ripley, Coupling, and Ultraviolet. He was also given roles for the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and its sequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Bruce Miller is played by Jack Davenport in the television series Swingtown. Bruce is happily married to Susan and the couple moved to an affluent Chicago suburb just to experience a new life together. However, everything isn't as pretty as the lawns and houses in the neighborhood, for behind the well kept gardens and homey houses are the individuals who actively engage in open marriages and less conservative activities. It is a time of sexual and social revolution and the Miller couple find themselves in the middle of it. Swingtown follows the lives of this couple who would either make it through together or be torn apart by these radical ideas.
