Tyra Banks has a new reality series and it's about to roll out on October 29. The CW has finally set a premiere date for the much awaited reality competition series,
Stylista, which will fill in the Wednesday 9pm ET/PT slot after the network's flagship series
America's Next Top Model. The 11th season of
America's Next Top Model is expected to premiere with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday, September 3, and will serve as a lead in for
Stylista.
Tagged as “The Devil Wears Prada reinvented as a reality series,”
Stylista follows 11 fashion enthusiasts as they compete for a job at
Elle Magazine. Each week they are put into two different challenges, an assistant task and a fashion editorial assignment.
"It is a competition show about aspiring assistants looking to become assistant editors at a fashion magazine," executive producer Ken Mok said at the time of the series' pick up. "At the same time they're trying to prove themselves as aspiring fashionistas, that they have a sense of style and savvyness, all the things to make it in the fashion world."
Throughout the series, Anne Slowey,
Elle fashion news director who has previously appeared on
Project Runway as a guest judge, and Joe Zee,
Elle's creative director, will serve as
Stylista mentors, with Slowey responsible for eliminating a contestant each week until the last assistant standing gets "promoted" to the coveted real-life job opportunity.
At the end of the eight-episode series,
Stylista's grad-prize winner will receive a paid, year-long
Elle editorial position, a paid lease on a Manhattan apartment for a year, and a $100,000 clothing allowance at H&M.
Stylista is a collaboration by
Project Runway developer Eli Holzman and executive producers Jane Cha and Desiree Gruber and
America's Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks and executive producer Ken Mok.
