Gary is the pet snail of SpongeBob. He is an intelligent, domesticated pet owned by SpongeBob ever since he was little. His qualities resemble those of a house cat, and he communicates with SpongeBob through meowing. Among other past times, Gary loves to read books and play music. He particularly enjoys reading books by Emily Dickinson. He also has musical talent, and he can play the violin. Gary serves SpongeBob well, he feeds his master toast and jelly every morning. Like any other pet, Gary has been vaccinated many times, for diseases like rabies and snailpox, among others.
