Sons of Anarchy is always at its best just as the season draws to a close. The slow build up of tension, the development of characters and plotlines with the eventual payoff is what makes this show as close to perfect as a television series can be and if part one of SOA's fourth season finale, "To Be", was any indication, that's exactly what's happening again this season. Secrets are coming to light and SAMCRO is falling apart. I can't imagine where it's all going but I'm excited to find out. As usual, the episode was full of terrific dialogue but I've narrowed it down to the best of the best.
Jax (to Unser): "I'll take care of Opie. You get rid of those guns and clean up the blood."
Unser: "Gettin' real good at that."
Jax: "I will find the truth. I promise."
Opie: "Yeah, just what I need. Another promise."
Roosevelt: "That means you don't get Clay."
Potter: "It appears someone else is determined to right that wrong."
Jax: "Then I put my goddamn family in a car and we get the hell away from Charming."
Tara: "Just like that, Jax? Change your clothes? Wash off the blood?"
Jax: "Yeah, Tara. Just like that."
Tara: "I'd say I'm the clearest I've ever been."
Jax: "Trust me babe, rage feels like that."
Tara: "Jax, tell me you love me."
Jax: "I love you, Tara. Do you love me?"
Tara: "If I could stop, I would."
Jax: "Do you need a bigger bowl?"
Phil: "I like cereal."
Gemma: "Another vacation?"
Tara: "Yup, because the first one went so well."
Gemma: "Clay was shot last night."
Tara: "I know."
Gemma: "By Opie."
Tara: "What? Why would Opie do that?"
Gemma: "Because Clay killed his father. Piney's dead. Clay put a shotgun to his chest."
Gemma (to Tara): "Clay will keep on hurting everyone and everything that gets in his path until he gets those letters."
Tara: "Gemma? Tell me you love me."
Lenny the Pimp (to Jax about his visitation rights): "That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Otto made some sort of deal."
Chibs (to Jax): "Tig's in trouble, needs an escort home."
Happy (to Jax about Tig): "He's right. It had to be Leroy. He's gotta die. Like, a lot."
Romeo: "Had my contacts look into Otto Delaney. Not sure who he's talking to but he never sold out your club."
Jax: "You sure? My guy got it from inside."
Romeo: "I pay a lotta money for information, Jax. It's accurate. Trust me. If I thought it was a risk, I wouldn't be making this call."
Tig (to coma Clay): "I love you, Clay. I do. I guess I'm just havin' a hard time wrappin' my head around you steppin' down. I don't know what I'm gonna look like when that happens, ya know?"
Jax: "What happened to Piney?"
Gemma: "Clay killed him."
Gemma: "Clay Morrow killed your father, stole that seat away from this family, gunned down your father's best friend and he tried to kill your wife. He's a murderous traitor and there's only one thing to do now, Jackson... for your father, your family and your club. It's in you. It's who you are. Clay has to die. Read 'em. See 'em in your father's own hand and then you kill him, Jax. You kill Clay before he's on his feet and strikes first. And when it's done? You take your place at the head of this table where a Teller belongs. Where you belong."
Gemma: "Tara gave me the letters. Jax is reading 'em."
Unser: "Uh, Christ."
Gemma: "Not all of 'em. We're protected. Clay? Not so much."
Tara: "How many did you take out before you gave 'em to Jax?"
Gemma: "If you knew, why'd you give 'em to me?"
Tara: "Because I'm smarter than you, Gemma, and I know Jax better than you do."
Jax: "I have to kill him, Tara."
Tara: "I know... and this is how you do it."
Tara: "You kill him and then you come get me and our boys and drive us out of this poisonous town."
Gemma: "What are you doing?"
Tara: "Everything you taught me. He's mine."
