I'm experiencing deja vu as I tune in to tonight's elimination round. Last week, we said goodbye to Alex Wong and his torn tendon, and last night Cat Deeley announced that Ashley Galvan (and her rib) are officially in the Bottom 3. Will history repeat itself with another injury elimination tonight? Let's find out.
It's all finger-snapping, clapping, and coattails in a jivey opener. Cat Deeley shows us video of dancing, pregnant women and wiggling, diapered babies in celebration of Dance Day. Nigel Lythgoe (in usual dramatic fashion) announces that "dance is taking over the WORLD!"
Tonight we know that Ashley Galvan is in the Bottom 3. Let's see who's joining her:
LAUREN FRODERMAN is...SAFE
KENT BOYD is...SAFE
No surprise here. Between Lauren's athleticism and Kent's Justin Timberlake-esque performances, 12-year-old girls everywhere are rejoicing. And updating their Twitter accounts accordingly.
BILLY BELL is...IN THE BOTTOM 3
ADECHIKE TORBERT is...SAFE
For once, I agree with Mia Michaels. She is "shocked" to see Billy in the Bottom 3, and so am I. WTF, America? His physical prowess and seamless movement in every performance should be carrying him to the top every week. I don't know if I can keep forgiving these voters every Thursday.
ROBERT ROLDAN is...SAFE
JOSE RUIZ is...IN
THE BOTTOM 3
I am pleased to see that Robert is safe, and my heart strings are tugged just a smidge when Jose admits that he expects to be in the bottom every week (cue violins.) Cat Deeley mends his wee little heart with a smooch. Adam Shankman plays the part of motivational speaker, encouraging him to keep on keeping on. Warm fuzzy feelings aside though, I won't be too torn up if Jose gets the boot tonight.
Solos
Billy Bell: Elasti-boy performs to Stand By Me. The stretching of his limbs never ceases to amaze me, but if America's votes are any indication so far, I'm speaking too soon.
Jose Ruiz: He does his usual B-Boying, but I think it falls short in comparison to his partnered B-Boy routine last night where his movements were sharper and stronger all around. I'm hopeful that this is the last B-Boying we're going to see this season.
Ashley Galvan is Eliminated.
...Once again proving that the word "injury" is synonymous with "See you next season!" Not a shocker, but I'm still a little sad. I really liked Ashley (especially in ninja form) and had hoped she and Alex Wong would be two of the top contenders for season 7. Sigh.
