FOX, you finally did something right. Perhaps you read Oscar's piece last week where he complained that you crammed fifteen minutes worth of show into a ninety minute bore-fest. This week, for the So You Think You Can Dance
performance show, you did it all in an hour. Each couple danced twice and each dancer did a solo. And you did it all in an hour! Now America, it's up to us. And it's not an easy job choosing who's going to go to the finale. Everybody's first partner routines were the strongest and each dancer had great moments tonight, here's the recap of the evening.
and Lacey Schwimmer
- Hip Hop and Smooth Waltz
Their hip hop routine was very good. Even though Lacey didn't dance in the first minute and just posed, I found myself more drawn to her than Pasha. Mary feels the wind is blowing them all the way to the finale and she may be right. The smooth waltz, though not my favorite style, also went over well for them with the judges. Lacey was criticized for her hands but that's the worst the judges could come up with so overall, it was a success for the two.
and Lauren Gottlieb
- Contemporary and Disco
I can't say I understand the alien angle to their contemporary routine but these two deserve to be in the finale and I don't care what anyone says. Debbie Allen called them "every choreographer's dream". What more do you need? Their disco piece had a high degree of difficulty which the judges too notice of. Lauren continued to give it all she got and Danny comes alive more and more each week.
and Sabra Johnson
- Jazz and Paso Doble
Neil & Sabra's jazz piece fell a little short for me but I think they danced it brilliantly. I do feel the two deserve to be in the finals but I am a little worried about them. Their paso doble got off to a slow start but had a big finish. Both have big fan bases and they might pull together to push them into the finals. It's the first time I felt slightly disappointed by them but I think they've both had a strong season.
I'd like to see Danny, Lauren, Neil, and Sabra in the finals but I have no idea what America will actually do. The elimination, though taped tomorrow, will not air until Monday so you're going to have to wait to find out what we've done.
