So You Think You Can Dance: The Top 10 Perform, Live Thoughts (Page 1/3)

It's Top 10 times folks! It's time for new partnerships, solos from all of the dancers, and if Nigel is to be trusted, one of this season's most exceptional routines courtesy of Jakob Karr. And I, for one, am downright giddy about the possible awesomeness that awaits us tonight.

As always, you can watch along with me live right here and in 140 character quips over on BuddyTV's So You Think You Can Dance Twitter. But remember, tonight's show starts half an hour later due to a Presidential Address. Sit tight, So You Think You Can Dance will be on soon!

Alright, Presidential Address ran over about six minutes, but it's Top 10 time!

So, who are you most surprised to see in the Top 10? Least surprised?

Can't say there are a ton of huge surprises for me, though the fact that both Noelle and Kathryn are in the Top 10 is a bit of a surprise. I can tell them apart now, while I couldn't at the beginning and I do prefer Kathryn now, while initially I was Team Noelle. They still seem pretty similar stylistically and physically.

It's time for our first new couple and whoa, they are dancing right away with no intros. Guess we know how they'll be making up those extra six minutes of Obama's speech.

Noelle and Ryan - Hip Hop
Choreographer: Tabitha and Napoleon
Song: "Give It To Me Right" by Melanie

Cat says this routine is not suitable for work, but it's all about work indiscretions. There's definitely some business happening at that desk! Noelle is selling the sex and Ryan looks much more comfortable in this sensual, lyrical style of hip hop than the hard hitting style he had to portray for Lil C. Noelle's really feelling her character and is demonstrating great musicality, in fact I'd have to say this is one of her finest performances. She looks like a different dancer tonight, perhaps finally not being out-shined by Russell. Good chemistry between the two, and I a solid, surprisingly well matched couple. What a pleasant development.

Judges Say:

It was a really good fun routine and there was good chemistry between the pair. Everyone thought that Noelle was the star of the routine and she was dancing like a different dancer.

Ashleigh and Legacy - Contemporary
Choreographer: Gary Stuart
Song: "Poison" by The Prodigy

You can definitely tell these two aren't contemporary dancers, it is missing a lot of the connection and any flow of contemporary movement. Though the style of the dance is certainly asking for less of that. This is contemporary gone glitchy techno. It looks more like a beating than a dance, it's an incredibly physically relentless routine. Legacy looks great and his b-boying skills are definitely being utilized. Ashleigh is working hard and while being out of her element, is certainly having her moments. There are some synchronicity issues, and the transitions weren't great, but this routine was fascinating. I want to watch it again NOW. That has to count for something

Judges Say:

Nigel says the effort was fantastic. While Adam appreciated that neither Ashleigh or Legacy look afraid of the routine and it's physicality. Adam thought the final move of the dance, with Legacy standing on his head for what seemed like an eternity, was one of the most memorable endings to any So You Think You Can Dance routine.

Molle's Solo
Rock the Beat by LMFAO

Mollee is an incredibly athletic and acrobatic dancer and she showed that off in her solo, but it lacked musicality and connection. A bit frantic and again, high school dance/cheerleader-y. Unfortunately the most memorable thing about it was Mollee's tragic 80s styling.

Russell's Solo
"Outros" by Black Milk

Yay for Russell solos. Considering we haven't seen a krump routine this season, it's finally a chance to see him shine in his own gravity defying, angular, hard hitting style. And he killed it. I look forward to Russell solos for the rest of the season, cause this kid is going nowhere.
