Ryan Rankine was born on February 15, 1986 in Brooklyn, New York. He started dancing at the age of 8 and received formal training from the Dance Theater of Harlem, San Francisco Ballet and Miami City Ballet. He currently specializes on contemporary movement and greatly admires the professional dancer Desmond Richardson.
Ryan became part of the dance show So You Think You Can Dance, Season 2 as one of the contestants. Paired with
Heidi Groskreutz until week 5, Ryan made it to week 7 before being eliminated with
Allison Holker .
