Entering its fourth season on FOX next summer, So You Think You Can Dance will soon be looking for potential participants to become the next Sabra Johnson, Benji Schwimmer or Nick Lazzarini.  The network has just announced the dates for the upcoming auditions, which will kick off in Dallas, Texas on January 17.

So You Think You Can Dance holds auditions across the major cities of the United States, looking for the top dancers in each city.  All types of dance backgrounds, including salsa, ballroom, hip hop, street dancing, contemporary, jazz, and ballet, are encouraged to audition for a chance to win the grand prize.

Though the reward for the upcoming season's winner has not yet been revealed, it typically consists of a cash prize and the title of “America's Favorite Dancer.”  In the first season, Lazzarini won $100,000 and the use of an apartment overlooking Central Park in New York City for one year. Second season champ Schwimmer won $100,000, a new car and a one-year contract to perform in Celine Dion's show in Las Vegas, while last season's winner Johnson brought home $250,000.

Hosted by Cat Deeley, one of the UK's top television personalities, So You think You Can Dance follows a mixture of contestants, ranging from unknown street dancers to winners of national championships as they contend for stardom.  With nationwide auditions similar to the premise of American Idol, participants have to work their way through a rigorous audition process, and, over the course of the show, are assigned different dance styles and partners each week to test their versatility.
