This Thursday The CW airs a new episode of Smallville. "Turbulence" will mark Season 8's sixteenth episode as the series draws nearer the finale this May. So far this is what we know.

According to the official Smallville episode preview, "Tess (Cassidy Freeman) invites Clark (Tom Welling) to a press conference in New York but when an explosion rocks the private jet they are on, Clark must figure out how to save them without Tess learning his secret.  Unbeknownst to Clark, Tess orchestrated the explosion to get Clark to reveal his powers.  Meanwhile, Davis (Sam Witwer) discovers a surprising way to control the monster within."
In a new clip from the episode, released today. viewers get a possible clue as to what that surprising method is.



Is Chloe the answer? Probably not long term. I suspect by the story's climax far more drastic measures will prove necessary because, well, that's how it always is. But Davis does seem to be able to reverse his transformation if he has a compelling enough reason not to.

How long will Davis be able to hold off the monster within? Will Clark give Tess the satisfaction of outing his super identity to the people on the plane? Will Smallville fundamentally change? Or will Clark find a way to save the passengers without their knowing what happened? Only time and The CW will tell.
