The new
90210 could really use a visit from Tori Spelling. Recent episodes of the series have focused solely on the teenage characters, making the show almost completely unwatchable. Spelling was in talks to return to her old zip code earlier this year, but the deal fell apart after she allegedly balked at the amount of money she was offered. My advice is to throw the actress all the cash she needs, because a little bit of Donna Martin would be more than welcome on the sluggish revamp.
Spelling may not be returning to Beverly Hills anytime soon, but
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is reporting that she'll be returning to Metropolis. The actress will reprise her role as
Daily Planet gossip columnist Linda Lake in an early 2009 episode of
Smallville.
Spelling's previous appearance on
Smallville was in the season 6 episode "Hydro." That installment revealed that Linda Lake lives up to her family name by possessing the ability to liquify herself. The nosy reporter not only killed a man by drowning him in a fountain, but she also learned Clark's secret while eavesdropping in her liquid state. Linda's reign of terror ended when Lana ran her over with her car, causing the gossip guru to burst into a pool of water that soon disappeared down a drain. It all sounds incredibly stupid when I type it out, but I swear the execution wasn't half bad.
There's no word on when Spelling's episode will air or what her character will be doing, though I have a feeling her knowledge of Clark's secret will definitely play a role. In my dream world, Linda Lake would strike up a very special romance with Aquaman. They'd be perfect for each other!
Ausiello also reports that Spelling is again in preliminary talks to appear on
90210. There's no guarantee that a deal will be reached, but if so it's likely she'd appear on the CW soap in the spring. Until then,
Smallville fans can look forward to the actress sticking her liquid nose where it doesn't belong early next year.
