Last week Smallville gave us our first glance at the Ares project,  next week promises a little more up close and personal glimpse at the project as Clark and Lois inadvertently close in on the secrets surrounding the mysterious beast.  For more spoiler laced Smallville details jump ahead!

The premiere Smallville fan site kryptonsite.com broke this exclusive news just a few months back: "Prototype", it seems Senator Burke has been pushing billions to LexCorp for a project called 'Ares' (which if you know your Greek mythology, and who doesn't, Ares is the son of Zeus). Burke finds out that Lex wants to make multiple Ares instead of delivering the prototype. He threatens to cutoff funding and Lex threatens to expose how much money is in the Senator's Cayman account. Later, while Lois is confronting the Senator in front of a restaurant about his Cayman account, he is killed along with his bodyguards by an unseen force. It seems Lex's prototype has escaped.

While there is no direct confirmation here that Clark is going to square off against the beastie one can only hope, particularly after this weeks yawn fest "Noir."  A good question as well is whether or not the prototype will figure into the finale.

S far what is known about the finale is that Clark will face off against bizarro Clark and that Martian Manhunter will make another appearance, which is uber cool.  But lets not forget the absolute iron clad promise that a Smallville regular will be killed in that episode as well, and for the record my prediction has not changed:  Chloe.
