They're baaaaack...And with the Luthors back in business, who knows what havoc there is to be wreaked. But never fear, the father of evil may be back but so is our hero's mother, fighting to keep hope alive.
In the latest episode, "Beacon", the fight between good and evil is put to the test as the Luthors reclaim their place in society and our heroes fight to repeal the VRA.
Family BondingThere's nothing like a Kent family reunion to warm the heart; just wish it was under better circumstances. Speaking out against the VRA at a pro-hero rally, Senator Martha Kent is shot twice. Thank goodness she was wearing a bulletproof vest and the second bullet only grazed her but that doesn't stop Clark from going into his traditional overprotective mode. While he is off in search of the shooter, Martha catches up with Chloe briefly before stopping by the farm, where Lois has baked her muffins and compiled a list of possible shooters. "Lois, don't worry, I've been impressed with you for years." See, Lois, there's nothing to worry about. You fit right in.
"This Wasn't Political, It Was Personal"
Looks like Clarkie boy found the shooter and he knows his secret. Finding Kryptonite dust particles just below the shooter's crow's nest and a crossed out engraving of his shield, Clark realizes Alexander was gunning for Martha in hopes of the Blur blurring in front of the bullets. But wait, Clark, that's not all. Lionel Luthor followed you through the mirror into this world and has reunited with his clone son.
Lionel may have won back the loyalty of his highly disturbed son but will he ever truly pick Lex over Clark? "In two separate worlds you picked your son...and it wasn't me." I guess not. Alexander does not take to Lionel's affection towards Martha Kent very well as he knocks them both out and sets the Luthor Mansion on fire (must all the iconic sets burn down in flames?). But where's Clark? Unfortunately, Alexander catches up with our hero and derails his superspeed with his Kryptonite gun, crippling Clark to the floor. With the help of Tess, Clark is able to talk Alexander down. "You're not him."
Believe in HeroesWith Martha and Lionel safe out of harm's way, Clark had a big win today. But yet his spirits are still low. If the VRA isn't repealed he may have to be an outlaw forever. Luckily his fiance, has been a busy-bee campaigning while he was dealing with the Luthors. Taking a page from Perry White's early years, Lois goes rebel and has Chloe hack into all the national news networks to spread the word to vote down the VRA. And all her ambition pays off as the VRA is repealed and Oliver and the rest of the heroes can now walk the streets again.
Hope is restored once again. Having seen fan videos to the Blur of people willing to step out for him, Clark starts to ponder the idea of one day letting them see his face. He already knows he'll be sporting glasses and a "bad haircut" (his words, not mine) one day. Looks like everything is falling into place. But trouble still looms on the horizon as Tess tries to inject an upset Alexander, who is starting to forget things, with cyanide but finds the needle bends, not able to pierce his skin.
