Take the BuddyTV Personality Quiz: Which Smallville Character Are You?

Aaron Robert Ashmore was born on October 7, 1979 in Richmond, British Columbia to Rick Ashmore, a manufacturing manager, and his wife Linda. He has a twin brother named Shawn, who was born a minute later than Aaron. The twins were discovered by a talent agent at their mother's meeting with the Multiple Births Association, a club she was in full support of. They began to audition for commercials, and in one instance when Aaron fell ill on the day of the shoot, Shawn filled in for him. Growing older, the twins were offered different roles, as their features also grew quite differently. Aaron developed a sturdier built with broad shoulders, and was thus given the antagonist roles.

Aaron Ashmore is best known for playing Marc Hall in the 2004 Canadian made-for-TV movie, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. However, he has also appeared in numerous productions such as Gross Misconduct, Crime in Connecticut: The Story of Alex Kelly, La Femme Nikita, Twice in a Lifetime, Blackout, The Familiar Stranger, The Safety of Objects, Dying to Dance and Treed Murray.

In 2002, Ashmore played Hutch in The Skulls II, and Harrison Bowles in Emily of New Moon. A year later he played Randy Kehler in The Pentagon Papers and in 2004 worked on My Brother's Keeper, Brave New Girl, Safe and A Separate Place.

Ashmore's later credits include television series The West Wing and Veronica Mars, and the movies Palo Alto and The Stone Angel. In 2006, he was cast as Jimmy Olsen in the television series, Smallville. In talking about his work on Smallville, he said to IGN.com, "It's one of those things where you know that people are going to have expectations, but it makes you really want to go out there and give your best and do your best. So I think it's great."
