With Dr. Elliot Reid already moving on from this season of Scrubs, we can only expect actress Sarah Chalke to take on other projects as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she has. The 33-year-old star has been tapped for a part in a new ABC sticom, titled Freshmen.
It sounds as though she's bringing a bit of her former Scrubs character with her on this one. Sarah Chalke has been given the role of Jane, a Congresswoman who is a great success with her career but is a total mess when it comes to relationships.
The multi-camera shot
Freshmen revolves around three young friends who work for Congress, and live together in Washington D.C. Their friendship is tested by their jobs, and of course the complicated tangles of their lives.
Jane is the only girl in the group, but she sounds like she's the one who has already accomplished a lot. She was once the VP of a multi-billion dollar oil company, right before she won her district's seat. Still, she's just plain terrible if you consider matters of the heart.
The upcoming sitcom comes from Ariana Huffington and
How I Met Your Mother executive producer Greg Malins. He's already worked with Chalke on that show in the past, when she became a guest star as the potential fiancée of Ted.
She won't be having as much luck in Freshmen though, when her character goes through a number of troublesome relationships with guys. Speaking of the males, there's still no report on the identities of Jane's other pals. The series is still in production, so we're not sure when it will see the light of day as well.
Despite the uncertainty that this new project holds, we're hoping Sarah Chalke does a good job with this. Eight years of
Scrubs will be a lot to live up to.
