American actor and stand-up comedian Dustin Diamond was born on January 7, 1977 in San Jose, California. While his first job was as a live mannequin in a department store display, he landed the role of Screech in
Saved by the Bell when he was in fifth grade. He also appeared in a number of other TV shows, such as The Weakest Link, Celebrity Boxing, Off Centre, and The Opie and Anthony Show. He also worked on the films Made and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. Aside from his acting, he was also a bass guitarist for the group Salty The Pocketknife.
Samuel “Screech” Powers is played by Dustin Diamond in the television comedy series Saved by the Bell. The resident school nerd and weirdo, he has been tagging along after Zack since they were in elementary school and remains extremely loyal to him. While he usually ends up doing Zack's homework and dragged along into Zack's schemes, the two of them maintain strong bonds of friendship, giving Screech more confidence. He is an admitted geek, yet also fancies himself a ladies' man. While a clumsy goofball, he's also very intelligent, and the gang tends to tolerate his eccentricities. Among these are hiding in his locker and wearing garish clothing.
