Previously on
Run's House,
Jojo Simmons, Zach and Reggie, also known as Blackout, learned the cold reality of landing a record deal in the episode “Mixed and Mastered.” Though Jojo was determined to pursue music on his own, he asked his dad,
Rev. Run, to make a call for him. After the supportive Rev. Run sets up a meeting for Blackout to meet with independent record label, Latchkey Recordings, the boys realized that their expectations were very high and that the backend revenue attached to an indie label could be a blow to their wild dreams of spending their upfront cash. With some advice and a few words of encouragement from Rev. Run, the boys eventually landed a record deal.
The drama continues in the episode “Too Cool for Old School.” Read on for a preview of tonight's episode of
Run's House.
In the 11th episode of the season, Jojo starts an internship at Phat Farm, an urban fashion line created by Russell Simmons, to learn the family business and to keep himself busy while going to an engineer tech school in the city. There, Uncle Russell makes Jojo work for a designer named Kevin Leong, who ends up making Jojo's life miserable.
When Jojo gets fed up with Kevin's treatment toward him, he complains to his Uncle Russell. On the other hand, Jojo eventually learns that Uncle Russell was behind the harsh treatment to teach him a lesson about working hard.
As for Rev. Run, he tries to prove to
Diggy and
Russy that he was a video game king when he purchases an old school arcade game. But when the boys get addicted and playing video games starts to affect their schoolwork,
Justine gets furious and eventually lays down the ground rules for when the boys and Rev. Run can play.
In addition to Justine's annoyance with the video games, she also has an epiphany about her weight struggle and goes on a diet that works for her instead of Rev's overbearing point-counting system.
