For the past few days leading up to tonight's bug event, the MTV stage has been rocking loud with the beats and sounds of the newest musicians yet to take the music industry by storm. They are none other than the offspring of real-life rock stars and music biggies, who have raised their children to follow in their footsteps. These young rockers are ready to test their skills to see if they could carry on their parents' legacies on MTV's
Rock the Cradle, which premieres tonight at 10pm.
Read on to see who's going to rock on tonight as the newest MTV reality show hits our television screens.
A'Keiba Burrell
She's the daughter of Stanley Kirk Burrell, more famously known as the hammer man himself, MC Hammer. A'Keiba was born on September 29, 1987, and is currently taking up film and music production at the University of Texas at Austin. Discovering her passion for music at a very young age, she says that her parents have helped her foster her talents. In fact, way back in the day, MC Hammer used to let her go out on stage with him to perform.
Today, A'Keiba enjoys developing her vocal skills and learning the music business during her free time. Inspired by her father, she intends to hone her craft in making music and classifies her sound as R&B with a neo-soul vibe.
Landon Brown
Born in 1986, he's the eldest son of R&B singer and bad boy himself, Bobby Brown. Landon began performing as a kid and was able to develop his skills enough to write his own music based on his life experiences. He admits that he has a close but competitive relationship with his father, but claims that his talents and skills are uniquely his own. Who knows? Landon may just be the next bad boy of MTV's Rock the Cradle.
Lara Johnston
As a young girl, she began performing and touring each summer with her father, the Doobie Brother's vocalist, Tom Johnston. Her first performance came at the tender age of two, when she sang the Doobie Brother's hit, "Listen to the Music" in front of a huge crowd. That did it for her--she definitely wanted to be in the music industry.
After studying classical ballet for a number of years, Lara switched paths and pursued her first true love: music. Two years ago, she won first place at the Unsigned Artist World Showcase, where she performed her winning piece, "Chain of Fools." She was featured at the B.R. Cohn Charity Events Fall Music Festival with the Doobie Brothers and Willie Nelson.
Chloe Lattanzi
The daughter of the legendary Olivia Newton-John, Chloe grew up to be highly influenced in the performing arts department. However, she initially ventured into acting, making her on-screen debut on the Australian soap Paradise Beach. She later worked on the 1994 TV movie, A Christmas Romance, the 2001 sitcom, Bette and the Showtime movie The Wilde Girls alongside her mother.
By the time she was 16, Chloe signed to Festival Mushroom under Warner Records and began writing songs, honing her talents in music production and eventually defined her sound. Today, she as at the brink of completing her debut album entitled No Pain.
Crosby Loggins
As the son of Jenny Loggins, Crosby grew up surrounded by musical influences. His family had a musically-talented circle of friends, which included Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Michael McDonald and Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket. In fact, Crosby owed his musical inspiration to these people, and ironically, not to his father. Last year, Crosby, together with The Light, released their debut album We All Go Home and has been touring in promotion of the album.
Jesse Money
Jesse literally entered the music scene when she was a toddler, bringing water to her father, Eddie Money while he was performing on stage. Growing up with four brothers and a rock star dad, she was able to hone her talents with her brothers, whom she often joined in jamming in the garage. While they like heavy metal, Jesse was more inclined to soulful, bluesy rock. Despite being close to her father, she says that he is her toughest critic.
Jesse Blaze Snider
The son of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, Jesse Blaze Snider has already followed in his father's footsteps, making his own band Baptized by Fire. In fact, he's got more than just musical accomplishments to his name, as he has been all around the entertainment industry. He has worked with Marvel comics in developing a four-issue prequel to Strangeland, a horror film written by and starring his father. He also wrote a story featuring the character Deadpool in Marvel Comics Presents #10.
Jesse Blaze also lends his vocal talents to various radio and TV commercials, including ads for GameStop and Burger King. He has been a VJ for MTV2, Fuse and AOL, and a DJ for New York radio stations WBON and WLIR. If that's not enough, he's also a national champion semi-pro football player for the Brooklyn Mariners and a former gymnastics coach! Today, he hasn't got enough time as his eyes are on the gold on MTV's Rock the Cradle.
Lil B. Sure
The son of R&B artist Al B. Sure, Albert J. Brown IV was born on October 30, 1986 in Mount Vernon, New York at the peak of his father's career. While Lil B was in high school, he enjoyed singing in the hallways and eventually caught the attention of parents, teachers and even the principal. He was really performing like his father! We'll see if he's got what it takes to conquer the real stage on Rock the Cradle!
Lucy Walsh
The daughter of Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, Lucy began playing the piano by ear at the age of five. Thirteen years later, she decided to pursue her musical career and moved to Hollywood to concentrate on working with other young musicians. She eventually worked with Ashlee Simpson, who asked Lucy to go with her in the 2004 Autobiography tour. Later on, Lucy decided to focus on her own career and studied with a private teacher for voice, classical piano and theory. Having been highly influenced by the Eagles, she gravitates towards rich harmonies and deep lyrics. In fact, she promises that her 2008 album will be filled with sounds and emotions that reflect her influences.
Tonight, we'll get to see who of these young rockers will make the stage their own and impress America to vote for them.
Rock the Cradle premieres tonight at 10pm on MTV.
