Boy Meets World
fans everywhere have a reason to be excited today: the first teaser for the Disney Channel spin-off is here.
The Girl Meets World trailer clocks in at only 30 seconds, but it's our first video glimpse into what the new show will be like.
It starts off with Riley (Cory and Topanga's daughter) and her best friend Maya about to hatch a plan that could get them into trouble, starting with sneaking out the window. But who should appear but Cory himself.
There are some great lines in this video, starting with Cory telling his daughter, "If it was your world, Maya would have you on the subway already, thinking you put something over on me already."
But the most memorable line of the entire trailer ties in with the titles of both series: "How long do I have to live in my father's world?" Riley wonders. "Until you make it yours," Cory replies.
We can't forget Topanga, who shows up later on as the caring mother ready to support her daughter as she faces the world just as Cory did all those years ago.
Check out the video below:
As this is only a teaser trailer, there's so much more that fans are clamoring for, which we'll hopefully get with future trailers and sneak peek videos leading up to the premiere, which is expected to debut this summer, though no premiere date has been announced yet.
Girl Meets World
will be a nostalgia-fest for fans of the original series, not only with the return of Cory and Topanga, but also guest appearances by past favorites. Rider Strong (Shawn) and Betsy Randle and William Russ (Cory's parents) will all show up for a holiday episode. And everyone's favorite teacher Mr. Feeney, played by William Daniels, is back as well.
And it was recently confirmed that we'll also see the return of Lee Norris, who played Minkus, the "geek" at the school. Norris told E! Online
, "I've had a great time being back on set with some of my old friends. It still amazes me how many people love and remember Minkus, and I'm excited for the fans to catch up with him after all these years."
A cast photo was also released recently, which you can view above.
What do you think of the Girl Meets World trailer? Does it make you more excited about the spin-off (or is it too cheesy)? And after seeing the video, do you think they cast the right young actress to be Cory and Topanga's daughter?
