Christian Siriano has come a long way from bagging the prizes on season 4 of
Project Runway, when he was just a mere 21 years old. Since then, he’s been making huge waves in the fashion industry, and has worked for Puma and Bluefly. In fact, he’s also made appearances in several events and TV shows. Earlier this year, he appeared as celebrity guest on
Make Me a Supermodel, and appeared as himself in the primetime hit dramedy,
Ugly Betty, where he also designed some of the cast’s costumes.
Inspired by theater costumes as a young boy, Siriano began his career as a freelance make-up artist for Stila cosmetics while designing wedding gowns for clients. When a friend’s mother suggested that he audition for
Project Runway, he took it into consideration and eventually landed a spot among the finalists. His successful stint on
Project Runway brought him a lot of attention and with this comes his new project—a dress for the next Tony Awards host.
"I am dressing Whoopi Goldberg for the Tonys," Christian Siriano confirmed at the Declare Yourself and American Eagle celebrity T-shirt launch in Los Angeles. Goldberg will be hosting the Tony Awards event, which will take place on June 15th at the Radio City Hall. CBS will be telecasting the show live.
During yesterday's broadcast of
The View, Siriano showed us some same sketches on a Whoopi Goldberg paper doll.
"You're not boring or dull and neither am I," Whoopi Goldberg told Siriano during that episode.
Siriano, on the other hand, cited that Goldberg's fashion statements are quite flamboyant, and that he is a fan of it.
"[It's] dramatic and fabulous, and that's me," he said. "I love the drama."
As soon as June 15th comes around, fans of Siriano will get to see his masterpiece, which will be flaunted off by Whoopi Goldberg as she hosts the Tony Awards at the Radio City Hall.
