Danay Garcia appears as one of the members of the cast in the Fox network's Emmy Award-nominated series Prison Break. She is a native of Havana, Cuba, and says that she enjoyed performing at a young age. She also practiced and danced ballet for more than 10 years. Garcia has stated that while she enjoys the attention of the public and the art of entertaining people, she realized for herself that ballet was a limited career, and she wished to expand into other forms of entertainment. She then began trying out for theater and looking for job opportunities as an actress. Among the productions she has had roles in are Danika, CSI: Miami, and From Mexico with Love.

Sofia Lugo is portrayed by Danay Garcia in the Fox network's drama series Prison Break. She is introduced during the third season of the show. She is the girlfriend of James Whistler, who is incarcerated in Sona penitentiary along with Michael Scofield, who was put there in order to break Whistler out. She joins forces outside the prison with Scofield's brother Lincoln Burrows in order to find a way for their loved ones to escape Sona, as well as to learn the truth about Whistler and why he was imprisoned.
