The second season of Pretty Little Liars answered one of the biggest mysteries of the show: the identity of "A." Mona was revealed to be the infamous texter but the cliffhanger ending, which hinted the death of Maya, definitely raised more questions for season 3.
What to Expect from Pretty Little Liars Season 3:
The new season of Pretty Little Liars
kicks off six months after Maya's death and will mark the two-year anniversary of Alison's death. Mona is still locked up at Radley though it's highly possible that she's going to be released since her portrayer, Janel Parrish, has already been promoted to series regular. It is, however, safe to assume that her friendship with Hannah is officially ruined. "I think it would be great if they went toe-to-toe with each other. I'm hoping for a showdown," Parrish said in this interview
Meanwhile, Rosewood makes room for new faces in season 3. TV Guide
reports that Vampire Diaries
actor Sterling Sulieman will join the cast as Maya's cousin, Nathan, a transfer student who aims to pursue law. There's also Kevin, who according to E!
, is the new coffee shop employee at Rosewood's new hangout spot, The Brew.
Showrunner Marlene King has also hinted on Twitter
that Ezra's brother and Caleb's mom might be coming to town while "there will be at least one new girl character" this season. More importantly, she mentioned that "the girls will uncover the identity of the black swan," also known as the mysterious woman who appeared at the masquerade ball.
