Sara Rue is an American actress and producer born on January 26, 1979 in New York City. Both her parents were active in Broadway theater, and her own career began at age nine in the movie
Rocket Gibraltar. She went on to appear in numerous series and films such as
ER,
Chicago Hope,
Can’t Hardly Wait,
Will & Grace,
Pearl Harbor,
The Ring,
Mad TV,
Gypsy 83, and
Less Than Perfect. Sara Rue has also worked on the theater productions
The Water Children and
The Shallow End, and executive-produced
A Little Fright Night. She presently lives with her husband in Los Angeles, and enjoys gardening.
Carmen Ferrara is played by Sara Rue in the comedy drama series
Popular. Despite being a pretty girl, she’s still unpopular. She was rejected at first from the cheering squad due to her weight, but would later go on to become head cheerleader. Her mother is an abusive alcoholic, and Carmen also suffers from a pregnancy scare at one point.
