The masters of horror on Showtime will be back to scare for another year. The network has renewed its freshman drama Penny Dreadful for season 2.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

The second season, which will air in 2015, will be 10 episodes, up from the eight in its first season.

Penny Dreadful follows the intersecting lives of many classic 19th century horror characters from literature, including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and characters from Dracula. It stars Timothy Dalton and Josh Hartnett.

The show averages 725,000 viewers for first-run episodes, but it gets a large increase with multiple airings throughout the week and On Demand viewing. In total, with all of the different ways people can watch programming, it's up to nearly 5 million viewers per episode.

It joins Homeland, Shameless, Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex on Showtime's current roster of dramas and continues the network's streak of almost never cancelling a new show after just one season.

Penny Dreadful, currently halfway through its first season, airs Sundays at 10pm on Showtime. Season 1 ends on June 29.
