Born Alaina Kalanj on April 17, 1980 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Alaina Huffernan made her TV debut when she was thirteen years old, appearing in the Fox Family Channel for a lead role on one of their pilot programs. She was later discovered by a modeling agency scout at a mall and became a model for both European and Japanese fashion runways. Her television appearances include those in Dawson's Creek, Serving Sara, Tru Calling, The O.C., Medical Investigation, and Painkiller Jane. Her films include Pendulum, Still, Night Dawn Day, Josephine, The Couch and Indefinitely. Her later, more known movies are Gunman, Serving Sara, Screen Door Jesus, Standing Still and Dog Lover's Symphony.

Maureen Bowers is played by Alaina Huffman in the television series Painkiller Jane. She is the best friend of Jane Vasko, a police officer who appears to have supernatural powers.
