According to the
Hollywood Reporter, fans of heartwarming adult drama
can rest easy, as both
One Tree Hill and
Life Unexpected
have been renewed. In addition, the Hollywood Reporter says the network
has picked up new shows
Nikita and
Hellcats. The CW's
official fall announcements come Thursday. Meanwhile, as expected,
Melrose
Place was canceled.
Both
One Tree Hill and
Life Unexpected have been on the bubble for a while, and while fans feared the CW would only choose one or the other, it looks like they want both. This means the CW is bringing back eight shows from the past season, which is impressive. The network previously announced renewals for
Supernatural,
Smallville,
The Vampire Diaries,
Gossip Girl,
90210, and
America's Next Top Model.
As for the new shows,
Nikita, starring Maggie Q, is an action series about a rogue assassin based on
La Femme Nikita while
Hellcats is about a competitive cheerleading squad and is produced by
Smallville's Tom Welling.
With these new pick-ups, the CW now has 10 hours of programming for 10 hours in its schedule, so it's time to play program director. If I had to predict where everything would wind up, here's how I'd plan it:
Monday:
One Tree Hill and
Life Unexpected (a night of adult emotional drama)
Tuesday:
90210 and
Gossip Girl (Gossip Girl is dying on Mondays, so maybe spice it up with a night of scandals)
Wednesday:
America's Next Top Model and
Hellcats (models and cheerleading go together like peanut butter and jelly)
Thursday:
The Vampire Diaries and
Nikita (an action-packed night)
Friday:
Smallville and
Supernatural (long-running fan favorites)
How do you think the schedule will look?
