We've seen Clay at work doing his best as a sports agent and we've seen how he is with the ladies on One Tree Hill. But there's another side of Clay that hasn't been uncovered---the one that involves his shady past and the real reason why he's in town. And it will be all revealed in good time though. For now, Robert Buckley hints on how his character's past will gradually unfold and the impact it will bring on Tree Hill.

"The guy's got a lot to him, a lot going on," Buckley tells Zap2it.com. "A lot of hurt and mystery in his past, which is a fun thing for an actor to play. Ideally, if you do it right, it's really entertaining for an audience to watch. It's always fun when you're playing a secret or when the audience doesn't know exactly what's happening. When everything's out there, when the character is very obvious -- like, these are the good guys, perfectly clean and the guys everyone likes -- that kind of gets old. To dirty it up, to mess things up, it's good. You don't know whether to love him or to question his motives."

Sounds like Clay's mysterious past will change the way he is perceived not just by the characters on One Tree Hill, but viewers as well. Still, Buckley is hopeful that when the time comes, people will be more sympathetic to his character. After all, that's also the time we find out why he's emotionally distant from all the women he meets.

Curious One Tree Hill fans should take note however that Clay's past isn't going to unravel slowly. It' actually starts off with a pretty huge episode, big enough to "shake down a small village."

"There is one episode that really does unravel the story of Clay's past and inform his behavior to this point, but it doesn't end there. That's just the beginning to this story and where he's at and him trying to figure out where to go from there," Buckley explains.
