Tonight on Nurse Jackie, Jackie (Edie Falco) and her husband Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) start to become concerned that their older daughter Grace might be suffering from anxiety disorder, while hospital administrator Mrs. Akalitus mistakenly drinks Jackie's "special" coffee.
On the last episode of Nurse Jackie - the pilot of the Showtime dark comedy - we were introduced to a very complex character. She says and repeats, "Make me good, God, but not yet," but at the same time snorts painkillers, has sex with the hospital pharmacist, and has the proclivity to flush body parts down the toilet.
Nurse Jackie is more than just a "competent nurse" as Showtime promised (a description that understandably drew criticism from the New York State Nurses Association because trading painkillers with a quick romp on the pharmacy store room isn't exactly on the nursing Code of Ethics). Nevertheless, the return of Carmela Soprano to the small screen generally received positive reviews.
Elsewhere on the episode, we also met Jackie's best friend at work, British Dr. O'Hara (Eve Best), whom she had lunch with at some hotel where something funny happened; first-year nursing student Zoey (Merritt Wever) who was told to puke "away from the ear" during an emergency and called Jackie a saint; Dr. Cooper (Peter Facinelli of
Twilight fame), the hospital golden boy who didn't do so well on the first episode but still managed to grab one of Jackie's boobs; her gay nurse best friend Mo-Mo (Haaz Sleiman), and her Vicodin source Eddie (Paul Schulze). Much, much later in the episode, we also learn that Jackie is the doting mother of two young girls and has a bartender husband (Dominic Fumusa) who likes pancakes for dinner.
