For the next two weeks, fans of NCIS will have to endure reruns of the police procedural series that mixes action with liberal doses of humor.  Nevertheless, the highly rated show is set to return on December 18 with a new episode called “Tribe” in which the team investigates a suspicious death of a marine near a place of worship.

Read on for more spoilers on the 11th episode of NCIS' fifth season.

Directed by Colin Bucksey and written by Reed Steiner, “Tribe” finds the team of special agents in a murder case that involves a young Muslim Marine who was killed near a mosque.  As the agents explore his death, the case gets delayed when Ducky (David McCallum) refuses to perform autopsy in respect to the victim's family's religious beliefs.

In an effort to resolve the investigation, the NCIS team tries to talk to the father of the deceased, who also serves as the Imam or Islamic leader.  They also send McGee (Sean Murray) to plant a bug in the place of worship, only to find out that the FBI is already involved in the case.  Later, it is revealed that the FBI also planted a bug at the mosque in suspicion of some terrorist recruitment activity.

Featured in the upcoming episode are Shaun Toub and Jonathan LaPaglia.  Toub, who guest stars as Khalid Mohammed Bakr, is noted for his roles on The Bold and the Beautiful, Smith, and the upcoming 2008 film Iron Man, while LaPaglia is credited for television series such as Seven Days, The District, and New York Undercover.

Also joining the main ensemble is Brian Dietzen, who will be reprising his role as Jimmy Palmer, Dr. Mallard's medical assistant both in the field and in the morgue.

NCIS airs every Tuesday at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.
