Long-running series always have a scary time when contract negotiations come up. Will the familiar, beloved faces return? Are promotions and more money part of the deal? While this summer's negotiations are not yet over, both NCIS and Criminal Minds have secured the return of characters for the fall.
Brian Dietzen to Return as a Series Regular
Although Brian Dietzen's Jimmy Palmer character has become a familiar and ever-more-important character over the past several years on NCIS
, he technically was not a series regular. All that will change for NCIS
reports that NCIS
is upgrading Brian Dietzen to a series regular when the show returns. The actor was very happy about this upgrade. "I'm very excited," Dietzen said. "After 8 years of being with the show, I got a contract with CBS, and I couldn't be happier about it."
Fans are well-acquainted with Jimmy Palmer, especially after season 9 of the long-running season. This spring saw the long-awaited marriage (albeit with more than a few, terrorism-related hiccups) of Palmer. However that turns out, we can at least expect Jimmy Palmer back in the action alongside Ducky.Matthew Gray Gubler Renews His Criminal Minds ContractCriminal Minds
didn't have quite as precarious a contract-renewal period as some other shows. Of the main cast, only Matthew Gray Gubler (Dr. Spencer Reid) and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss) had to renew their contracts before Criminal Minds
season 8 could begin.
While Brewster chose to leave the production this spring, Gubler is coming back. According to a report from Deadline.com
, the actor has signed a two-year contract with CBS to remain on the show. Details are, of course, not available, but Gubler will reportedly earn more than $100,000 per episode when he returns.
That's not bad.

stars like Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna, Shemar Moore and others. Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love
