The Glee Project
is nearing the end of season 2 and things are
getting harder than ever. This week's music video is a one-take obstacle
course that is as hard as anything these kids will ever be asked to do
in service of Glee
. And the final decision is also the hardest
one yet as Ryan Murphy loves everyone in the bottom three. With only ONE
winner, these next few weeks are going to be impossibly painful.
Homework Assignment: "Survivor" by Destiny's Child
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
The performance is pretty good, and I'm happy to report Amber Riley is another mentor who isn't afraid to offer constructive criticism. She thinks Abraham lacks vivaciousness and Lily doesn't connect with the song emotionally. Ali wins for the second week in a row.
I'm really feeling bad for bromance partners Blake and Michael, who are the only two contestants left who have never won the Homework Assignment. Of course last season's co-winner Damian McGinty never won a Homework Assignment either.Music Video: "Eye of the Tiger" by SurvivorChoreography
: For about the 13th time this season, there's no choreography. I'm starting to think the producers have had to cut down on choreography because the contestants this season suck so much at it. And that makes me angry because Zach Woodlee is the best.Vocals
: Abraham and Michael struggle, as always, while Shanna sails through. Lily has some trouble in the group segment simply because her voice doesn't blend well with others. She's too loud and Aylin comments on this, which upsets Lily a whole lot.
Nikki is so in love with Blake that she would probably want to have his baby if she weren't already having someone else's baby. In case he wasn't already the very obvious frontrunner, Nikki says it outright.Video Shoot
: The whole video is being done in a single long take as the kids perform a series of tasks in an obstacle course. It's ridiculously involved and painfully hard, complete with jump rope, costume changes and ending with Ali throwing a basketball backwards.
The worst part is that, if anyone messes up at any point, they need to do the entire thing over again. In the end, we see them get through 33 takes before they decide to change around the ending a bit just to get it done on the 34th take. This video definitely showed the tenacity of these contestants.Blake
: He starts the routine off, so no matter what, he has to do his segment all 34 times. He doesn't complain once or even seem affected, which means he's Superman.Lily
: She can't take her pants off quickly enough (which is not something I ever thought would be a bad thing), so Aylin has to help her.Abraham
: He falls while running and seems to sprain his ankle, but he pushes through and refuses to let it stop him. At one point he apologetically asks for an ice pack.Lily, Aylin, Michael and Abraham
: The jump rope segment is particularly impossible, and after about a dozen failed takes, they decide to cut it from Double Dutch to Single Dutch.Shanna
: All of the running and falling takes a lot out of her, to the point where she even dry heaves into a trash can.Ali
: She has a total emotional breakdown because she can't score while tossing a basketball over her shoulder. That's almost impossible, and making that the final stunt is just cruel. The Bottom 3
This video pushed the contestants to their physical and emotional limits, making them redo the same routine 34 times in a row. Robert Ulrich seconds Nikki's praise of Blake by saying he was perfect every single time with the most physically demanding part. Seriously, how is he not going to win? Maybe Shanna will steal it at the last minute, because there are only three episodes left and she has NEVER performed for Ryan Murphy.Michael - "Brick" by Ben Folds Five
: I love this song so damn much and I love the texture of Michael's voice, so this is like Heaven to me. Ryan Murphy's whole criticism boils down to "You're not as good as Blake," which is just mean and unfair.Abraham - "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson
: He drops his voice about eight octaves for this performance to the point where it doesn't even sound like him. Ryan doesn't like Abraham's excuses.Lily - "I'm the Greatest Star" from Funny Girl
: Wow, Lily might be the most versatile performer of the entire season. We've seen her be sexy, scary and sensitive, and now she adds funny. She does a remarkable job playing up the musical theater comedy. Lily throws Aylin under the bus and Ryan loves a good catfight.
After the performances, Abraham storms the stage and demands to be taken seriously. He basically orders Ryan to keep him and give him a role on Glee
, which is a bit pushy. Ryan and the judges admit this is the hardest week because they could see any of the bottom three on Glee
. Who's Going Home?Abraham is eliminated
! I'm not totally shocked. It's really not him, it's just that Lily and Michael are a little better. And it's become clear that Lily is this season's Alex Newell, a contestant who constantly winds up in the bottom but who Ryan saves every time, because this is her fourth time in danger.
Next week on The Glee Project
