Through the entire run of Malcolm in the Middle, Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) was a force to be reckoned with, a terrifying woman who often engaged in all-out war with her own kids. Malcolm felt his mother was trying to ruin his life, but in the series finale, when Lois makes Malcolm turn down a very lucrative job offer, he gets fed up and demands an explanation.

What she delivers is one of those beautiful speeches in which a mom explains that all she wants is for her child to be the best he can be, and in Malcolm's case, that is President of the United States. All the seemingly awful things she's done to “ruin” his life were simply to put him on a path to the highest office in the land, and her faith and determination to help him achieve that goal are as inspirational as any kid could want from a mother.
